LG G2 Tips and Tricks

The LG G2 is one of the best Android smartphones of the year 2013, and why not, it does have a lot of potential against the other smartphones in the current Android smartphone market, but are you making the most out of it, or just using it as any other device? Here is a handful of tips and tricks for LG G2 using which you can enhance the user experience and make it a more personalized device for your usage.

Change App Icon – Size or Picture

There are a few features which are limited to just the LG devices. This is one of them, where you can change the icon for the app, and changing here means – changing the size, the actual icon picture by selecting from the given icons or selecting one from your own gallery.

On the home screen, tap and hold on the app icon and then let go. It would show a bluish option on the top right of the icon which would stay for a couple of seconds. Press on that to see the options opened for the particular icon.

You’ll see the option to expand the icon.

Knock On – Tap the screen to wake it up

This is again one of the best ways LG has given for those who didn’t like the back button placement, especially when the phone is placed on a table and they have to lift the phone to press the power button. Just tap the screen twice gently so that the screen wakes up and you can then unlock it. That isn’t limited to unlocking, because you can use the same tips to lock the screen by tapping twice on any empty area or the notification bar on the top.

To change the settings, you can go to Settings > General > Gestures > Knockon and toggle it on / off.

Change chat bubbles / theme in Messaging

The messaging app in most of the Android smartphones is the standard one, with the regular chat bubbles, but in LG G2, you can personalize it and use one of the several themes and bubbles that are given by LG, or you can go to an extent where the theme can be uploaded by you and changed.

Go to Messaging app > Menu > Settings > Conversation theme and here, you will see the option to change both “Wallpaper” and “Bubble” where the background as well as the chat bubbles are changed into different ones based on your preference. The wallpaper can be something that is captured using your camera, or you can choose one from the Gallery.

QSlide – Using the apps in small windows

The QSlide is a feature where you would be able to open multiple apps on the same screen, in small windows and this is the best for multitasking, although the actual multitasking is different from this. The QSlide is seen as the second option when you drag down the notification panel. Selecting that would open a list of QSlide apps just below the settings in the panel, and you can open any of the apps from there.

Changing the apps and order of them is possible by going to the Edit option in the end of the QSlide. Also, you can change the transparency of the app window with the slider given on each app when you open it. This would help in doing stuff when you have to check what’s on the background.

Slide Aside – Multitask Always

This is not the multitasking that you see as the default one in the Android phones, because in the Slide Aside, you can store up to three apps for an unlimited time, unlike the standard multitasking where you see the apps disappear when the latest ones replace them.

In Slide Aside, you need to swipe three fingers to the left when on an app page, so that the particular app page gets saved. You can do that with three apps, and the preview looks excellent, showing you the three saved apps one of which you can open any time. You may press the X button to remove the app if you wanted to have any other app in the Slide Aside multitasking.

Guest Mode in LG G2

There’s a very good Guest Mode feature which would limit the usage and the apps when you are giving the phone to someone who you feel, should not be able to check your personal details, messages, call logs etc. The Guest Mode would allow you to set the apps which you prefer to show to the guest, and for that you will have to first set the pattern lock. Go to Settings > Display > Lock screen and pick the pattern unlock and set that one for yourself.

Now, head to Settings > General > Guest Mode and you will be able to set a pattern for the guest mode, and select the apps which to show in the guest mode. It would have a very limited usage, because the person won’t be able to open even the notification panel, and only the apps which you allowed would be shown on the screen.

Use LG G2 as Remote Control

The G2 can act as a universal remote control, and it isn’t limited to just the TVs but you can use your smartphone for various stuff which includes – Set-top box, Audio player, DVD player, Blu-ray disc player, Air conditioner, Projector and the smartphone can act as a Universal remote.

Just click on the Plus icon on the right top and it would take you to the options to select from, i.e. the type of remote. For example, if you add Set-top box, it would take you to the brands of the STB or the brand which is providing you the DTH connection. There would be a series of tests to be done, and only if is working correctly, you can proceed and it would get saved under the various places such as office, bedroom, living room etc. so that you can use it easily later on.

You can choose to Auto display the QuickRemote at home, as soon as it locates that you have reached home, and you can toggle between the sound and vibrate settings when you press any remote button.

Quick ways to capture Screenshot

Although the different button placement, the LG G2 would allow you to capture the screenshots in different ways, and that won’t take any extra time, because you are seeing the keys closer to easily press them. One of the ways is to just press the Power and Volume down button together, and it would do the needful.
The other way is to use the QuickMemo feature, which not just captures the screenshot but also gives you a quick way to edit and add any text to the screenshot if you wanted to do so. There are two ways to open the QuickMemo:
  1. From the notification panel – the first option there is the quickmemo, which has to be opened from the actual screen where you wanted to capture the screen
  2. From the home button – Pull the home button upwards from the bottom to quickly open three options, the right one in them being the one for quickmemo, which does the same job.

Capture Full frame pictures with camera

If you are one of those who would capture the photos mainly to view from the smartphone screen itself, then you should have the wide view captures rather than the 4:3 aspect ratio ones which give a black bar on the either side of the image, because of the fixed ratio. The default one set is 13-megapixel which comes in the 16:9 ratio and thus you see the black bars on the left and right when seen in the landscape mode, and the option you need to select here is the 10-megapixel one which gives the aspect ratio that fills the entire screen.

Swipe to Delete / Share Photos

The Gallery app in the LG G2 although has the standard options to share or deleting the photos, does an even better job for those who wanted to check each photo individually and then decide what to do with it. When swiping between the different photos, you just need to pinch the photo a little to show the options such as swipe up to delete and swipe down to share. Based on what you want to do, swipe it.

Quick Actions with Back Buttons

The back buttons aren’t just for a single purpose, i.e. you can surely increase or decrease the volume of the smartphone with the Up and Down keys on the back panel of the G2, but a bit more can be done along with it. When the screen is turned off, if you press the Volume up button for a couple seconds, it would activate the Quickmemo if you wanted to jot down any notes. Similarly, if the Volume down button is pressed for a couple seconds, it would activate the camera without you having to activate the screen.

Change Front Bottom Touch Buttons

The touch buttons in the front bottom are not the capacitive fixed ones, because these are the system buttons which can be manipulated and changed, from the options given in the settings. Go to Settings > Display > Front touch buttons and see the different options available for the front buttons. There are bars which include even the Notification panel button and the quickmemo app.

Smart Screen – Keeps screen active if you are facing it

The smart screen feature is something similar to what you might have seen in the Galaxy S4 from Samsung. The thing that is done in this, is that the front camera of the LG G2 would check whether you are looking at the screen, and if yes, it would not allow the screen to turn off automatically on the normal screen timeout time that you have set. To activate that, you need to go to Settings > Display > Smart On > Smart screen.

Plug & Play options for Earphone

Whenever you plug a 3.5mm pin in the headphone jack, normally the phones don’t respond to it although the headphone works. In the LG G2, you can select a set of apps whose icons would show up for you to easily access them, and most of the times it would be one of those apps which you would have opened normally when you use the headphones. To set up the list of apps which are to be shown, go to Settings > General > Accessory > Earphone.

Dual Camera – Showing yourself while capturing others

Again one of the features which is nothing new in the high-end smartphones, but a very useful one when you are missing yourself while capturing your family in a photo. The Dual camera mode shows a small box with the front camera while most of the screen in the camera app is still filled by the objects from the back camera. With the Dual camera, you can:
  • Drag to move the small screen
  • Touch and hold to resize the small screen
  • Tap small screen to swap the screen
Swiping from bottom in the camera with dual camera mode would show the various shapes for the small screen – Window, Stamp, Oval blur, Instant, Heart shape, Star shape, Fish eye, Split view.

Capture Plus – How to capture screenshot of full web page

Capturing screenshot, as we said above, has a few different ways but that would be only for the current screen and nothing that can be scrolled down or up. While browsing through the web browser in the LG G2, you would find a feature called Capture Plus, in the menu. That is what would capture the entire page from top to bottom, and save that to the gallery.

Setting up a Default home screen

There are multiple home screens in the interface, which has been a case with most of the Android smartphones, but when you have to make it look neat and organized, don’t keep shifting between the home screens by yourself, as you can take advantage of the default home screen option. Set one of the home screens as default by pinching on the home screen and then selecting the option “Set default Home screen”, and then tap the home screen which you wanted to set as the default one.

Quick Check and Uninstall Apps

Just like in the iOS devices, you can uninstall the apps directly by just a couple touches from the app pages. On the app drawer page, you just need to touch the Wrench icon on the top right, which would show the X option beside every app which you can uninstall. Clicking on the one which you want to uninstall, the information about the app is shown, and the option to uninstall it. And the deletion of the app is pretty quick, with a trash sound confirming that the app is gone.

Set up Battery Saver Mode on Low Battery

The battery saving mode is again one of the standard options provided in most of the smartphones, as the brands know how fast the battery gets drained when you are using it at ease. At a certain battery percentage, the battery saver mode, when activated, would automate a lot of stuff and keep your phone on mainly for calling and messaging, as most of the other stuff is hibernated. To activate the battery saver mode, you need to go to Settings > General > Battery > Battery Saver.

Change the Font and Size of Text

Personalization getting even better. Above we did share how you can change the messaging apps’ background and chat bubbles, and now here’s how you can change the text font and the size to a few limited options, but they would do quite a good job. Go to Settings > Display > Font where you would see the options for changing both – font type and size.

Share files wirelessly

You can access files on your LG G2 using your PC or Mac wirelessly through your Wi-Fi network. It’s a feature called Wireless storage and you can find a toggle for it at the far right of your notifications shade toggle menu. You can also turn it on via Settings > Share & connect > Wireless storage. When you turn it on you’ll get a pop up that gives you the IP address, username, and password.

Stick the IP address into Explorer on Windows or Finder on Mac and you can drag files directly from the phone to your computer. On Windows if you add G2 to the end of the address then you can map the network drive. On OSX in Finder hit Command K and then enter smb:// followed by your IP.

Nokia Lumia 620 Tips and Tricks

The entry-level Nokia Lumia 620 might be the new kid on the block, but it’s attracting a lot of attention and with great hardware and a tantalisingly low price tag, it’s no surprise that sales of this small Windows Phone 8 handset could well make a big impact on Nokia’s market share.

If you’ve already joined the Lumia 620 camp, or are considering switching, take a look at some tips and tricks which can help add even more functionality to this pint-sized powerhouse.

10 best Nokia Lumia 620 Apps

Quick launching the camera

The camera on the back of the Lumia 620 is a plucky little 5-megapixel snapper with a great pulse LED flash. You could choose to unlock your phone, swipe to your apps menu and open the camera from there, but simply holding down the shutter button on the lower right side of the phone until it vibrates pulls you straight into the camera app and ready to take a snap whilst cutting out the middle man.

10 tips for taking better photos with your phone

Customise your lock screen

With Windows Phone 8, Microsoft added a lot of additional functionality to the lockscreen beyond changing the wallpaper image. Depending on the app you have installed, the lockscreen can be set to show things like images from your Facebook albums, real-time sports scores or Bing photography. To change your lockscreen, head to the Settings app, chose ‘lock screen’ and pick an option from the ‘Background’ drop-down menu. What’s more you can also choose which apps show detailed or minor information from the same settings screen.

Windows Phone 8 tips and tricks

Integrate Facebook Chat

The messaging app on your Lumia 620 isn’t just for text messages and one additional function lets you pull your Facebook Chat in so all your real time message are in one place. To set it up, make sure you’ve entered your Facebook details into the ‘email+accounts’ section of the Settings app. Once you’ve filled that in head back to the messaging app and flip the ‘use Facebook Chat’ option on in the settings menu. Then you’ll be able to set your status online and chat with your facebook buddies without ever opening Facebook.

Resize tiles

One of the great aspects of Windows Phone is its aesthetic, the clean tile design really helps the OS stand out from iOS and Android. To make the most of your homescreen, you can choose between two or three tile sizes (depending on the app). To resize a tile, press and hold until the icons start to ‘float’ and dim behind the icon you were holding your finger on. By tapping the diagonal arrow in the bottom right of the selected app you can toggle between small, medium and large tiles.

Filter your contacts

The connected nature of Windows Phone means that the People app can show more than just your standard phone contacts, it can also pull in email contacts from Hotmail, Outlook and Gmail or social network friends from sites like Facebook and Twitter. Sometimes all those contacts in one place can be a little confusing, so it’s nice to have the ability to filter out the unwanted entries without deleting them or logging out of any accounts. Simply go the the People app, open up settings, choose the ‘filter my contact list’ option and check or uncheck the tick boxes behind your linked accounts to filter out certain groups.

Create a group

Speaking of groups, sometimes you want to have quick access to a specific bunch of people; perhaps your immediate family, close friends or work colleagues. With Groups, you can perform simultaneous actions like emails or texts, view posts on social networks and even recently uploaded or tagged photos with your favourite people in. In the People app, swipe to the ‘together’ screen, hit the addition icon at the bottom of the screen and choose Group. Once you’ve named your new group hit the addition icon on the ‘edit group’ screen and choose your desired contacts.

Browse photos by person

If you’ve stored your Hotmail, Outlook, Live and/or Facebook details on your 620 then you might have noticed that the Pictures app shows your photo albums from the likes of Facebook and SkyDrive without you ever having manually added them. The same can be done with your contacts too. In the Pictures app, choose ‘people’, ‘choose contact’ and pick a name, your Lumia will then pull in any albums it can find based on their contact information and display them next alongside you forever more in the people section of the Pictures app.

Get exclusive Nokia apps

Owning a Nokia Lumia handset entitles a user to some unique apps exclusive to Nokia’s Windows Phone range. The Nokia Collection appears in the Windows Phone Store app and offers up a vast array of apps and games from Nokia Transit to Angry Birds Space. Some titles are free but some cost money, so check before you download.

Tap+send

Despite its entry-level status, the Nokia Lumia 620 features the rather premium feature of NFC. Dubbed ‘Tap+send’ this feature lets you tap your 620 to compatible tags and even other devices as a means of sharing or downloading content and even connecting to wireless accessories like speakers and headphones.

To make sure you have Tap+send switched on simply look for it in the Settings app. Alternatively, switching it off should help extend battery life.

Changing cases

One of the great things about the Lumia 620 is that if you’re not happy with the colour you bought it in, the back cover simply snaps off and is replaceable with one of five alternative coloured shells. Colours include: cyan, magenta, green, white, black and blue. To change the cover on your Nokia Lumia 620, hold the lower portion of the body on the sides with on hand and push the against the rear camera to pop the shell off the phone’s back. It’s then simply a matter of snapping on a new case from the base first.

When you say hard reset it involves on the hardware part, so you need to remove the battery of you Nokia Lumia and reinsert it. Then turn on your device normally. This should refresh the content of your device but will not remove any data.

iPhone tips and tricks

The recent appearance and quick disappearance of two early prototypes of the iPhone on eBay complete with fledgling versions of the user interface give us an indication of just how much work went into the iPhones operating system.

The result of all this work (with version 3.0 on its way too) is an OS thats so intuitive that many of us have never even felt the need to glance at the manual. The iPhone is just so easy to use that it almost feels instantly familiar the first time you pick it up. However, under that friendly exterior there are some hidden useful features that are not quite as obvious. In fact, weve managed to round up thirty of them. Well cover the first fifteen in this instalment and bring you the final fifteen later in the week.

Tip 1 - Extra characters
Need to use foreign accents on characters in an email or note? Just tap and hold on the main letter on the keyboard and several variations will pop up above that key. Simple, but very useful.

Tip 2 - Take screenshots
Were ashamed to say it, but we originally kind of stumbled across this one by accident. One day while fumbling with the buttons on our iPhone the screen flashed and later we noticed a screenshot in our Photo Roll. A little bit of investigation later and we discovered that to take a screen grab you just press home button and standby button at the same time.

Tip 3 - Quickly scroll to the top of a page
When youre at the bottom of a long webpage or in the middle of a list of contacts it can take multiple swipes of your finger to get back to the top. However, Apple has included a handy, but little known shortcut to quickly jump to the top of any page or list. Just tap at the top of the screen and, hey presto, youll find yourself back at the top of the page or list.

Tip 4 - Access that search icon
The Search icon in the contacts book can be maddeningly difficult to accurately hit with your thumb. Usually you either end up staring at the A entries in your phone book or the Add Contact screen. A better way of accessing this icon is to simply tap and hold on the right hand column of letters and then push upwards to the Search icon. Success every time! Double-tapping at the top of the screen also works, but is a fraction slower to bring up the search box.

Tip 5 - Save images
Come across a picture on a webpage or in an email that you want to save for later? To quickly save an image just tap and hold on it and then select Save Image in the box that appears. Youll then find the image saved in your camera roll.

Tip 6 - Wheres the Caps Lock key?
Youve probably noticed that the iPhone soft keyboard doesnt have a Caps Lock key. However, there is a way of enabling Caps Lock. All you have to do is double-tap on the Shift key. If youve doubled-tapped fast enough itll turn blue to show that Caps Lock is now on. For this to work, though, you have to have the Caps Lock function enabled. Go to Settings, select General and then turn on the ‘Enable Caps Lock button.

Tip 7 - Longer Autolock
Fed up of the iPhones autolock kicking in too soon? No problem, its easy to change how long the iPhone waits before going into standby mode. Just go to Settings, select General and tap Autolock. You can set the autolock delay to any duration up to 5 minutes, or alternatively turn it off completely. Be careful, however, as a long autolock setting can cause you phones battery life to suffer.

Tip 8 - Home Button double-tap
By default, double-tapping the home button just takes you to the home screen - the same function as tapping it once. However, you can set up a double-tap to act as a shortcut to either the iPod screen or your Phone Favourites. Just go to Settings, select General, choose Home button and highlight the function you want.

Tip 9 - Home Button iPod controls
The home button double-tap trick can also be used for another function. You can set it up so that if you double-tap the button while a song is playing in the background or while the phone is in standby, it will bring up a mini iPod control bar on the screen. All you have to do is Turn on the iPod Controls function in the Home Button settings screen. At all other times double-tapping the home button will take you to the main iPod screen or your Phone Favourites, which ever you have set up in Tip 8.

Tip 10 - Unfreeze your phone
Contrary to what some Apple enthusiasts would have you believe, Apples products do crash and do suffer from lock ups. The first time your phone completely locks up its easy to think that its dead as it will refuse to turn on. The secret is knowing how to force it into a reset, but luckily this is a pretty simple operation. Just hold down both the standby button at the top of the phone and the home button until the screen lights up and shows the Apple logo. This can take quite a while (at least 10 seconds), so dont be tempted to let go too soon thinking that the process is not working.

Tip 11 - Save battery power
The iPhone doesnt really do multitasking, so it never has a pile of apps running in the background and draining battery power. However, pressing the standby button at the top of the phone doesnt really put it into standby mode, it merely turns off the display. If you have an app running and press this button it will continue to run and drain power. This is why its better to hit the Home button to close any open apps before pressing the standby button.

Tip 12 - Full stop
When typing out most emails or notes, theres no need to use the full stop button at all on the iPhones soft keyboard. This is because the phones intelligent predictive text can fill it in for you. When you get to the end of a sentence simply double tap the space bar and the predictive text engine will automatically enter a full stop followed by a space.

Tip 13 - Stop automatic syncing
Stopping your iPhone from automatically syncing with your computer is pretty straightforward. First, connect your iPhone to your computer, then in iTunes select the iPhone in the side bar and click the Summary tab. Now just deselect the Automatically Sync When this iPhone is Connected option. You can also stop the iPhone from syncing just once. To do this press and hold Shift+Control on a PC or Command+Option on a Mac as you connect your iPhone to your computer and keep them held down until the iPhone appears in the side bar.

Tip 14 - Web clips
You can add icons to your home screen to give you quick access to your favourite websites - a feature that Apple calls Webclips. Just visit the site in the Safari browser, tap the bookmark button and then select Add to Home Screen. The iPhone will automatically generate an icon for the page based on the sites graphics.

Tip 15 - Moving between Homescreen pages
OK, everyone knows that you can move between pages of apps on your phone by swiping your finger left and right. However, what some might not know is that you can also quickly move between pages by tapping to the right or left of the little white dots that indicate how many screens of apps are on the phone. Plus, when you want to the return to the first screen just press the Home button.

Tip 16 - Turn off SMS preview
The iPhone is set by default to display a preview of incoming text messages when the phone is locked or youre using another app. This isnt very private if you happen to leave your phone unattended, but luckily you can turn off the preview. All you have to do is go to Settings, select Passcode Lock and then turn off the Show SMS Preview setting.

Tip 17 - Change your iPod Shortcut Buttons
The Playlists, Artists, Songs and Videos buttons at the bottom of the iPod interface on the iPhone arent fixed. You can easily change them to different categories such as Podcasts, Genres or Compilations. All you have to do is tap on the More button to the right of these icons and then tap on Edit. You can then simply drag the new category icon that you want to use onto the bar at the bottom of the screen. You can also drag and drop the existing buttons to rearrange their order on this bar.

Tip 18 - Force quit an application
Like all computer devices the iPhone suffers from hangs and crashes. If an application stops responding you can usually kill it by simply pressing and holding the Home button for at least six seconds.

Tip 19 - Tap and slide for capitals
It takes a little bit of getting used to, but you can speed up typing on the iPhone by using the tap and slide method to enter capital letters. When you need to type a capital letter instead of first tapping the shift key and then tapping the letter you need, try taping and holding on the shift key and then sliding your finger to the letter you want to capitalise. Once you master it youll be able to enter capitals with a single slide gesture.

Tip 20 - Microphone controls
The microphone on the iPhones headset doubles as a button (just give it a squeeze) and as well as being used to answer calls it can also be used to control music playback. If you double press the button your iPhone will skip to the next track in a playlist, while triple clicking it will skip to a previous track or to the start of the currently playing song. Pressing it once will pause a song and pressing it once again will start a song playing again. Sometimes the resume playback feature will time out if youve left the phone paused for a long time. If this happens just double tap the home button on your iPhone (Tip 9 must be activated for this to work) and then press the microphone button again.

Tip 21 - Simpler domain entry
If youre entering a .com domain name into the web address box in Safari you dont actually have to add the http://www bit at the start or the .com at the end. Just type in the core name and hit Go - the iPhone will add the rest for you.

Tip 22 - Clearing stored search terms
The iPhone automatically keeps a list of terms youve searched for in Safari so it can suggest them again the next time you go to enter a similar term. However, there are times when youll want to clear this. The quickest way to do this is to tap on the Bookmarks button, select History and then press the Clear button at the bottom of the screen.

Tip 23 - View hyperlinks
Not sure where a hyperlink is going to take you? You can find out the full address of the link by pressing and holding your finger on the link. A pop-up box will show you the full URL of the link that youve selected.

Tip 24 - How to scroll in frames
Thankfully, web pages built using scrollable frames are dying off. However, if you do happen to come across one on your iPhone you may be pretty stumped as to how to just scroll a frame of the site and not the whole site. The trick is to use two fingers to scroll within the frame and one finger to scroll around the whole site. This trick can also work when viewing PDF files on a website.

Tip 25 - Send a call to voicemail
If youre in a situation where you cant answer a call, just send it to voicemail. There are two ways to do this. You can simply double press the standby button on the top of the iPhone, or alternatively if youre using the headset, just press and hold in the microphone button for two seconds. Two low beeps will confirm that the call was declined.

Tip 26 - Zooming out in Maps
The Maps application lets you repeatedly zoom in by double tapping on an area of the screen. Thats pretty intuitive and well known. Whats not common knowledge is that you can also repeatedly zoom out but tapping once on the same area of the screen using two fingers held slightly apart.

Tip 27 - More multifunction keys
With the UK keyboard enabled, getting at the dollar sign is a two tap process: you have to tap once on the number key and then tap again on the symbol key. A faster way to access the dollar symbol is to tap once on the number key and then tap and hold on the pound symbol. Extra symbols including the dollar, euro and yen will appear above it. Also, if you tap and hold the .com button when entering web addresses, other top level domains like .net, .co.uk and .org will appear above it.

Tip 28 - Avoid camera shake
The iPhones camera isnt the best, to put it mildly. It takes relatively low res shots and its easy to end up with blurry ones too. In fact, tapping the camera button is often enough to cause the iPhone to shake and introduce camera blur. Instead of just tapping the button once, its better to press and hold it down before framing your shot. The iPhone wont actually take a picture until you let go of the button and this often leads to less camera shake and cleaner, more in focus shots.

Tip 29 - Teaching the iPhone bad manners
Are you fed up of the iPhone trying to Disney-fy your swear words. Some iPhones seem to have no problems adding swear words to their dictionary (just type the swear word and then tap the x next to the suggested word to get the iPhone to learn it), but others seem to refuse to learn how to cuss. A work around is to add swear words to your contacts book and suddenly your iPhone will be swearing like a sailor.

Tip 30 - Swipe to delete
The best known way of deleting messages in your inbox is to tap the edit button and then select the messages that you want to get rid of. However, a faster way is to swipe your finger left or right over a message and then tapping the delete button that appears next to it.

It’s common for Apple users to get fascinated and hooked with iDevices’ cool features. If you are that addicted, saving your battery life could perhaps give you another hour of gaming spree and even lengthen your devices’ life. Here are some few things though that you must know on how to save battery life on your iDevices.

1. Turn off vibrate feature when playing games. Avoid playing intensive video games as this will kill your battery quickly.

2. You might not know this, but by adjusting your devices’ volume to low or none at all, you are eventually saving a small amount of battery life. Go to Settings menu, select General and head on to Sounds to adjust your devices’ sound system.

3. Just like computers, keeping your iDevices’ Lcd at maximum brightness will consume more battery life. Adjust your Lcd settings to low by going to Settings and select Brightness and Wallpaper to change the default level of brightness.

If you’re just playing a regular game and doesn’t want any disturbances (like a phone call perhaps), might as well switch to Airplane mode to save battery life.

5. 3G connection uses up more battery life compared to Wi-Fi. So if possible, use Wi-Fi especially on hotspot instead of 3G. According to Apple, iPhone on the other hand gets 10 hours for Wi-Fi and only 6 hours for 3G.

6. Disable Bluetooth radio when not needed. Go to Settings, then General and Bluetooth to switch off.

7. Turn off Push Notifications. Every time you get notifications from Facebook , Twitter or any apps your using, you’re also consuming your battery life. If you can check those apps manually, you can turn off the notifications by heading to Settings, Notifications and switch to off to save a bit of battery life.

8. Set your Lcds to lock quickly when not in use. Go to General; select Auto-Lock to set your Lcd to lock quickly before you put it back on your pocket or bag.
